First Birthday Photography Session | What should I Bring?

My goal is to make your baby’s first birthday photography session easy! All you need to bring is your baby, a smash cake, and wet wipes. I provide the rest! Personally I love the look of organic, outdoors first birthday sessions. The fewer props, the better! The focus really goes to what we love most that way. i.e: squishy baby rolls, sweet little hands, and adorable expressions. Not to mention their new tricks like pulling up, clapping, and maybe even walking.

What should I bring to my baby’s first birthday session?

Honestly, all you need to bring is your baby, a sweet outfit, and a smash cake! Make sure your baby is well fed right before your session. I love sunrise sessions for families with little bitty kids. They usually have their best time of day when they’ve woken up freshly rested for the day! If it works better for your schedule to have a golden hour session in the evening, then I would suggest trying your best to let baby have a nap before your session. (Ideally not in the car on the way to our location!)

No shoes are necessary, we want to capture alllll the little baby toes!

For your smash cake, I adore the precious little cakes from Sweet Willow Bakery! Lauren is the most talented baker and has an uncanny ability to match your theme in the most tasteful (pun intended) way. Her coloring is out of this world immaculate. And did I mention she offers the best cake pops? Fun little treat for any siblings who come along to watch the cake smash and would love a sweet, too.

The only props needed will be covered by me, your photographer! I’ll bring along a vintage, white, wooden baby rocker, a large white blanket, and the energy to get some sweet smiles as your baby steals the show!

When should I book my baby’s first birthday photo session?

My turn around time is very fast for every session! You’ll receive your full gallery back within two weeks. Some families like to schedule their cake smash session three to four weeks ahead of their baby’s actual birthday. This way you can have prints made of their photos to decorate their birthday party or hang around the house for the big day! I do tend to book up quickly during busy seasons (Spring and Fall) so the sooner you reach out the better!

Can the whole family join for updated portraits?

Absolutely!! The more the merrier! I do offer full sessions which can be used as a family/first birthday session, OR you can book a First Birthday Session which is a short and sweet session meant just for baby. You can also package a First Birthday Photo Session with a Maternity, Newborn, or Six-Month-Milestone Session with my Year In The Life Package!
