Houston Arbetorum Family Photo Session. This Houston Arboretum family photo session was so gorgeous! This sweet family just moved to the Houston area and wanted to update their family portraits to showcase their new home land. The Houston Arboretum has so much to offer, with easy to access walking trails and lots of green landscape. They also have so many fun things to do as a family, including an inside nature museum and an outdoor play area. As we take photos here, we will focus on making memories over posing perfectly. This always results in the best overall moods and photos in my opinion! We start with holding, smiling, and then ease into playful prompts. Continuously moving around and snapping quickly to ease any toddler wiggles.

My own family enjoys visiting the Houston Arboretum, (especially on Thursdays when they offer free parking!) My little ones love the outdoor water pump, climbing area, and playground. We always go inside to the museum to see the snakes, bugs, and small mammal exhibits too! They have microscopes, sensory bins, books, puppets, and so much more. They even offer extra learning opportunities, clubs, and field trips.

As a photographer, I love the Houston Arboretum for family sessions. The walking trails are perfect for exploring outside with little ones who prefer to be on the go. They also provide interesting composition for portraits with gorgeous evening lighting. (Though I have yet to try morning light- I’m sure it’s beautiful too!)
